Going Deeper: The Teacher Training Programme

Teacher Training Programme (TTP), offers practitioners of Kadampa Buddhism the opportunity to study deeply, gain practical experience of both Sutra and Tantra as well as train to become qualified Dharma teachers.

The Programme consists of a dynamic combination of teachings, meditation and discussion, all of which enable us to go deeper into the layers of meaning within each book that we study. All of this helps us to make real progress along our spiritual path. Each class consists of preliminary prayers, guided meditation and reading from the book with commentary and discussion. All qualified Kadampa teachers follow this in-depth program of study and practice.

The programme involves the study of twelve texts, students are required to observe certain commitments with regard to behaviour and way of life, and an intention to engage regular meditation retreats run at Bodhisattva KMC.

The Book We Are Studying

Mahamudra Tantra

This book is a clear and simple manual for practising Mahamudra Tantra – the quick and profound method for uncovering the deepest levels of peace and happiness within our own mind.

Mahamudra is the union of great bliss and emptiness – the most subtle mind that experiences great bliss and realizes ultimate truth, the way things actually exist. From his practical experience, Geshe Kelsang explains how to prepare our mind for Mahamudra meditation, how to remove obstacles to successful practice, and how we can experience progressively subtler states of mind. By explaining how to uncover and purify the deepest level of our mind and to use this very subtle blissful mind to meditate on ultimate truth, he shows how we can destroy all our negative minds at their very root and quickly reach the state of full enlightenment.

Our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Thekchen, is a senior meditation teacher in the New Kadampa Tradition.  He has been a Buddhist monk and teacher for over 25 years, having taught in many Centres in the UK and Canada.  He presents Buddha’s teachings in a practical and often humorous way that enables the listener to easily understand the teachings and put them into practise.

Bodhisattva Kadampa Meditation Centre is a member of the International Kadampa Buddhist Union (IKBU) and is a Registerd Charity No. 1016354.
