On this weekend retreat we will meditate on Buddha’s teachings on the profound view of emptiness, the true nature of our reality. By meditating on emptiness we can realize the world is merely an appearance to mind, like a dream, and through this this we can learn to let go, live lightly in our world, and keep a happy mind.

To use an analogy, when we dream at night we believe the dream appearances are real and, in the case of a nightmare, we experience many painful emotions such as fear and anxiety. When we wake up in the morning we realise, with relief, it was just a dream and that it never truly existed. In the same way in our daily life we believe that the world is real and, as a result, we experience constant fear and insecurity. By meditating on emptiness, the true nature of our reality, we can awaken from this dream (the cycle of suffering – samsara) and find permanent liberation from our suffering.

The retreat venue

The environment of Bodhisattva KMC is very relaxing and there is plenty of time between retreat sessions to enjoy our café, to meet and chat with other retreaters and the community of Bodhisattva KMC, and to enjoy walking and gentle strolls along the Brighton and Hove sea front and promenade. The peaceful surroundings of Bodhisattva KMC help people to create a comfortable space within their own minds.
