Maitreya Kadampa Meditation Centre

Open to everyone, Maitreya Kadampa Buddhist Centre is a special place of peace and refuge, just a few minutes walk from the beautiful sea front in Bexhill. We offer a variety of inspiring classes and courses that allow you to learn how to meditate, bring real meaning to your life and access the timeless wisdom of Buddha’s teachings. In-depth weekly study programs, chanted prayers and retreats are also provided for people who want to deepen their understanding. The Centre also has a shop with a range of books, meditation CDs and other items for sale.

Maitreya Buddhist Centre is a non-profit registered charity and member of the New Kadampa Tradition – a global organisation founded by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. The Centre is run entirely by volunteers and welcomes people from all faiths and backgrounds to discover how to find lasting happiness from within.

Kelsang Rak-ma is the Resident Teacher at Maitreya Kadampa Buddhist Centre.

Rak-ma has been ordained as a Buddhist nun for 17 years and has been practising meditation for nearly 20 years.
She understands how people of this modern world need help and support through Buddhist meditation, and presents the teachings in a clear and down-to-earth way.
