Practice for the Holidays: Letting go of Family Friction

The holidays are a busy time for all of us. This can also be an unrivalled opportunity to train the mind in patient acceptance, generosity, love and compassion. This practical day course will offer proven methods to keep our mind calm and our heart open during the busy holiday season. Take some time to learn how to give the gift of peace and happiness to your family and friends.

From “How to Solve our Human Problems” by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

“When we live in close contact with someone, our personalities, priorities, interests, and ways of doing things frequently clash. Since we spend so much time together, and since we know the other person’s shortcomings so well, it is very easy for us to become critical and short-tempered with our partner (or family) and to blame them for making our life uncomfortable. Unless we make a continuous effort to deal with this anger as it arises, our relationships will suffer.”

The day will include guided meditations, teachings, discussion and time for Q&A

It will also include a lovely vegetarian lunch and refreshments during the breaks

Teacher

Our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Thekchen, is a senior meditation teacher in the New Kadampa Tradition.  He has been a Buddhist monk and teacher for 20 years, having taught in many Centres in the UK and Canada.  He presents Buddha’s teachings in a practical and often humorous way that enables the listener to easily understand the teachings and put them into practise.
