For many, the well-worn path of seeking lasting happiness in experiences, possessions, relationships and forth simply isn’t working. Instead of finding direction, we can find ourself emotionally dependent on these things and anxiously fearing their loss.

If you feel you’ve tried everything, why not try the path less travelled, the spiritual path. This inner journey of meditation and spiritual insight can transform daily life into a dynamic and uplifting path to happiness.

Start the journey on this meditation retreat, where you’ll learn how to:

  • Bring about the positive changes that lead to lasting happiness

If we wish to lead the happy life we long for, we must learn how to transform our mind. In this retreat, be guided through the essential meditations of Buddhism that will give rise to a complete transformation of your mind, freeing it from negative emotions and making joy and happiness your everyday reality. Based on the book How To Transform Your Life by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the retreat is a wonderful opportunity to bring about positive changes in our lives that will enable us to experience deep and lasting happiness.


Our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Thekchen, is a senior meditation teacher in the New Kadampa Tradition.

Gen Thekchen has been practising and teaching Buddhist meditation for over 25 years under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. He is well known for his ability to present Buddha’s teachings in a simple, practical and often humorous way, making them easy to put into practice in everyday life.

Friday 27th Aug:
7.30pm – 8.30pm: introduction to retreat.

Saturday 28th Aug- Wednesday 1st Sept:

9.00am – 10am: Guided retreat session

11.30am – 12.30pm: Guided retreat session

4pm – 5pm: Guided retreat session

7pm – 8.30pm: Guided retreat session (includes Q&A)

7pm: Wishfulfilling Jewel Puja (SUNDAY ONLY)

Thursday 2nd September:

9.00am – 10am: Guided retreat session

11.30am – 12.30pm: Guided retreat session

Prior to the retreat starting  you will receive an email with the links to the live retreat sessions. After each session is finished you can use the same links to access the recording of the session which will remain valid for 7 days.
If you don’t receive an email, please check in your junk box as it may have landed there!

Everyone needs to register including members. There are no drop ins for this retreat.

Our classes are intended for people in our local area (Sussex), if you live elsewhere you can find your local centre who will be offering livestream classes here

There are two ways of attending this retreat

Part 1 – Weekend – You have a choice to attend in person or online (in person spaces limited)

Part 2 – Attendance option is online only
