Teacher

Our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Thekchen, is a senior meditation teacher in the New Kadampa Tradition.  He has been a Buddhist monk and teacher for 23 years, having taught in many Centres in the UK and Canada.  He presents Buddha’s teachings in a practical and often humorous way that enables the listener to easily understand the teachings and put them into practise.

  • DAY & TIME

    Saturday, November 6th

    10 – 11.15am – Teaching and meditation
    12am – 1.15pm – Teaching and meditation
  • 4 Hidden Truths - The 4 Seals

Buddha Shakyamuni taught four main truths (the four seals) that require deep wisdom to understand and realize:

    1. All functioning things are impermanent, changing moment by moment.
    2. Everything in this impure world is created out of confusion and therefore conducive to suffering.
    3. All phenomena are empty of inherent or independent existence.
    4. Only permanent freedom from delusions (Nirvana) is real peace.

We are going to explore these four hidden truths over the course of 2 special half day courses.

In this first half day course, Gen Thekchen will explain the first 2 seals in a practical way and guide us on profound meditations to gain experience of these hidden truths.  If we deeply understand subtle impermanence – how we don’t remain the same even for a second moment – this will help us let go of negative minds and be more present in the moment.  If we understand that the world we live in is an appearance to our confused mind, we will no longer blame externals for our problems but use our difficulties to encourage ourself to free our mind from confusion and other delusions.

    We will learn:

    1. The peaceful nature of our own mind
    2. Subtle impermanence (learning to let go of negative minds)
    3. The origin of our suffering and how to abandon negative minds

Join us for this profound day of wisdom!

On Saturday, November 27, Gen Chodor, the Resident Teacher of London Kadampa Meditation Centre will teach on the remaining two seals, emphasizing Buddha’s teaching on ultimate truth, emptiness and how to use this wisdom to solve our daily problems.  Not an event to be missed!
