Going Deeper: The Teacher Training Programme

Teacher Training Programme (TTP), offers practitioners of Kadampa Buddhism the opportunity to study deeply, gain practical experience of both Sutra and Tantra as well as train to become qualified Dharma teachers.

The Programme consists of a dynamic combination of teachings, meditation and discussion, all of which enable us to go deeper into the layers of meaning within each book that we study. All of this helps us to make real progress along our spiritual path. Each class consists of preliminary prayers, guided meditation and reading from the book with commentary and discussion. All qualified Kadampa teachers follow this in-depth program of study and practice.

The programme involves the study of twelve texts, students are required to observe certain commitments with regard to behaviour and way of life, and an intention to engage regular meditation retreats run at Bodhisattva KMC.

There are many benefits to joining the Teacher Training Programme namely:

  • Increased personal insight, wisdom and experience of Dharma (Buddha’s teachings)
  • Studying and meditating more effectively following a specially-designed programme and qualified meditation teacher
  • An opportunity to discuss and ask questions
  • Help, support and friendship from like-minded people
  • Gain the ability to integrate Buddha’s instructions into busy modern life.
  • Learn to teach meditation and Buddhism.

The Book We Are Studying

Universal Compassion

Teacher

Our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Jigme, is a senior meditation teacher in the New Kadampa Tradition.

Ordained as a monk in 1997 by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, Gen Jigme has studied, practised and taught Kadampa Buddhism under Geshe Kelsang’s guidance in major Kadampa Centres throughout the UK for many years. He shows a humble, kind example as a practitioner and his clear explanations of Buddha’s teachings give us the confidence to practise them in our daily life.
