School & College Visits
Bodhisattva KMC has been hosting school visits for many years and the re-opening of one of our newly decorated meditation room has greatly increased demand. Our meditation rooms are beautiful, peaceful places that contain large Buddhist statues, paintings, shrines with offerings, sacred texts, and many of the symbols mentioned in the RE Syllabus. It has a special atmosphere and teachers are often surprised at how quiet and responsive the children are during their visit.
You can make your visit a wonderful half day out. In addition to the spiritual aspect you could include history, environmental and art studies around the building or on a warm day lunch on our Peace Garden.
Typical example of a school visit
A typical visit would last up to 1.5 hours with one of our Buddhist teachers, and can include a brief tour of the centre to get a feel for life in a working Buddhist community. Visits will usually begin in one of our beautiful meditation rooms. We can explain Buddha's life story and the main Buddhist beliefs. We can include a simple relaxing meditation, or more structured meditation to develop a positive mind like love. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions. We then can break for complimentary refreshments in our World Peace Café and then gather in the second meditation room where the students can draw images of Buddha or fill out worksheets you have prepared. The visit can be concluded with a walk through our Peace Garden or, on a warm day, lunch in our Peace Garden to enjoy your packed lunch or use our dining room up to 1pm (holds 20 people) if it is cold or raining. Please ask on the School Booking Form if you would like us to cover specific topics the students are studying.
Visiting hours
Visiting hours are between 10am and 1pm Monday or Tuesday. If you have special requirements outside of these times please contact the Education Programme Co-ordinator and we will try to fit your needs.

Charges
For 2012 our charges are :
Pre-school & Primary £1.20 each
Secondary / A level £1.45 each
Special schools £1.20 each
Adults with special needs £1.20 each
Further Education / Adults £2.50 each
Please note there is no charge for teachers or parents
(Please pay at Reception during your visit and you will be given a receipt. Cheques should be made payable to ‘Bodhisattva Centre’. Or ask for an invoice to take back to school / college).
Visits to your school
If you would like one of our teachers to come to you and visit your school we can arrange this also. Please contact the Education Programme Co-ordinator for information and fees.
