For every action we perform, we experience a similar result.

For example by lying, we create the cause for people not to believe us or trust us, and not to listen to what we say; and by engaging in sexual misconduct we create the cause for being abandoned by our spouse and becoming very lonely.  Engaging in these behaviours is like a farmer planting the seeds of a poisonous weed in his fields.

Understanding Buddha’s teachings on karma, we can construct happy, meaningful lives for ourselves and others, and eventually arrive at a state where we no longer experience any problems or suffering, and we find our surroundings faultless and beautiful.
