This retreat can be attended for individual days – see below. Love is the true protector – protecting us from negative states of mind and fear, and it is the foundation of all spiritual realisations. By improving our love we become a good natured and good hearted person which leads to harmony in our relationships, our society, and our world. On this meditation retreat we will be focusing on meditations on loving kindness and relying upon Buddha Maitreya – the Buddha of loving kindness.

“It is said that there exists a magic crystal that has the power to purify any liquid it is placed in. Those who cherish all living beings are like this crystal – by their very presence they remove negativity from the world and give back love and kindness.” – Geshe Kelsang Gyatso (Transform Your Life)

The retreat will be based upon the teachings at this year’s NKT Spring Festival 2017, but it is not necessary to have attended this festival to attend this retreat.

The retreat venue – Bodhisattva KMC

Buddhist meditation retreats

The environment of Bodhisattva KMC is very relaxing, and there is plenty of time between retreat sessions to enjoy our café, to meet and chat with other retreaters and the community of Bodhisattva KMC, and to enjoy walking and gentle strolls along the Brighton and Hove sea front and promenade. The peaceful surroundings of Bodhisattva KMC help people to create a comfortable space within their own minds.

The Retreat Teacher – Gen Samten

This retreat will be guided by our special guest teacher Gen Samten. He is among Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s most senior students, and he taught for many years in the UK, including at Manjushri KMC. By his example and his teachings, Gen Samten shows clearly how experience of meditation brings inner peace. He has been the Resident Teacher at KMC New York since the autumn of 2008.

The retreat will begin on Friday evening (2nd June) at 7.15 pm with an introduction and end after lunch on Wednesday 7th June at 2.00 pm. There will be four sessions of retreat each day and, to preserve the peaceful experience of the retreat, silence will be observed during the mornings.
