With Resident Teacher Gen Kelsang Chodor

We can often see ourselves as someone who is fixed, solid, and real and relate to this sense of self as if it were our true nature. Viewing ourself in this way can make us feel that we can’t change, improve, and become a better person and our limitations seem an inherent part of our nature (“it’s just who I am”).

Buddha taught that all our suffering and unhappiness arise because our way of relating to ourselves is completely mistaken. Through meditating of Buddha’s teachings on emptiness, or ultimate truth, we can discover our true nature and realize that the only limitations we have are the ones created by our minds of confusion. Our limitations are illusory, self-imposed, and by training in this wisdom we can lift this confusion and discover and experience our true nature – peaceful, limitless, and free.

As part of this weekend we will receive the empowerment of Buddha Prajnaparamita. Prajnaparamita is the embodiment of the perfection of wisdom of all the Buddhas, and through receiving her special blessings we can easily improve and finally perfect our wisdom.
